Beginning Fall 2001, Roger, Brent and Keith traveled to every
A&M away football game. It was during Fall 2005, when the Lane
family saw a converted school bus built by fans of a rival team.
The owners quickly invited the Lane family aboard to look around
and offered them food and beverages. Coming from a University
known for its friendliness, the Lane family quickly determined
that Texas A&M needed to create something to welcome students,
alumni, visitors, and opposing fans to campus. This is when the
idea to create "Bus 12" was born.
Bus 12 was built by one family for ALL Aggies to enjoy. It is a
converted yellow school bus that was bought and "remodeled" in
May 2006. Bus 12 was designed to drive Aggie Spirit and promote
A&M athletics through camaraderie and fellowship between Aggie
fans. Bus 12 has already become a staple in Aggie lore and
tradition. With a vision of the ultimate tailgating machine in
mind, the Bus 12 crew went to work converting a full length
yellow school bus into a spirit mobile. After thousands of man
hours, the Bus blossomed into a one-of-a-kind spirit wagon that
makes appearances around Aggieland at a variety of athletic,
organizational, and social events. With a fully functional deck
on top, a back porch, a miniature replica of Kyle Field, 3
television viewing areas and an all Aggie themed interior, the
Bus is a fun and awe-inspiring rallying location for Aggie
events.
